Traditionally, interrogation statements were recorded manually, leaving room for misinterpretation, omitted details, and inconsistencies. To improve accuracy and fairness, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) sought a secure and comprehensive recording solution.

This resulted in nete2’s Audio Video Recording System (AVRS), a purpose-built solution designed to capture every detail of an interrogation session. Multiple camera angles record proceedings while environmental data such as sound levels, temperature, date, and time are logged. Despite the obstacles of standardizing configurations across various sites, nete2‘s utilization of careful camera placement and acoustic treatment enabled us to ensure a consistent yet optimized setup.

A major challenge was meeting SPF’s requirement for recordings to be written to a single-use Blu-ray disc immediately after each interrogation session, and available for playback within a minute. Normally, the time required to save recordings to a disc is dependent on the session length, which is unpredictable, creating technical limitations. However, nete2 circumvented this using in-house technology that enabled concurrent track recording, meeting the desired requirements and outcome.

AVRS features a distributed architecture with a central management station, allowing real-time monitoring and efficient administration of all interrogation rooms. Following a successful Proof-Of-Concept, our system demonstrated reliable capture of verbal, non-verbal, and contextual details, strengthening the accuracy and reliability of evidence.

Beyond simply enhancing operational efficiency and reinforcing public trust in law enforcement, AVRS also safeguards the interests of all parties by ensuring fairness and transparency for everyone involved in the justice process.

Today, nete2 continues to support AVRS operations and future enhancements, reflecting our long-term commitment to innovation and our ability to deliver complex, mission-critical solutions for the public sector.
